Why Panama City Is the Girls’ Trip That Finally Feels Easy

Panama City is one of those destinations that just fits whether you’re celebrating something special, planning a small group girls trip that actually makes it out of the chat, or ready for somewhere new that isn’t overdone

It’s a city that surprises you in all the right ways. You’ve got a skyline full of modern high-rises but a few streets over, Casco Viejo brings out the colonial charm with its cobblestone streets, rooftop bars, and boutique hotels.

You can explore the World-famous Panama Canal one day and be on a beautiful island the next. Just outside the city, within an hour’s drive, you’ll also find lush rainforests, coffee farms, and wildlife reserves that make excellent day trips.

The Request

One of our returning solo travelers came to us wanting something special for her 30th birthday — this time, a small group girls trip to Panama City.

She wanted a trip that felt exciting but not overwhelming — somewhere the group could celebrate, explore, and still have time to relax. Her priorities included:

  • Cultural and historic experiences
  • Outdoor adventure
  • Nightlife; and
  • A Luxury Spa Experience

The Challenges

As the planning process unfolded, several common (and very real) group-travel challenges emerged:

  • The group size changed
  • The trip overlapped with Good Friday, a national holiday in Panama
  • Travelers arrived on different days

Originally, there were twelve guests. But if you’ve ever tried planning a girls’ trip, you already know where this is going-people dropped out! Instead of canceling or rebuilding from scratch, the itinerary was adjusted to fit the final group number without compromising the experience.

Two factors required additional planning:

  • Good Friday: A national holiday in Panama that limits alcohol sales and slows nightlife.
  • Staggered arrivals: Guests arrived on different days, which can easily disrupt group flow.

To account for the holiday, the schedule was restructured. Cultural and architectural experiences were planned for the quieter day, while nightlife and celebratory outings were reserved for when the city was most active.

Key experiences were also staggered so every guest felt fully included, regardless of arrival time. No one was catching up. No one felt like they missed out.

The Experience

Over the course of the week, the group enjoyed:

  • A historic walking tour of Casco Viejo paired with a Guided Tour of the Panama Canal
  • A zipline adventure through the rainforest
  • A catamaran day on the water
  • A spa day to reset before the birthday celebration
  • A final dinner that felt earned, relaxed, and joyful

The pacing mattered just as much as the activities.

  • Traveler Feedback
Panama was amazing!! Like the trip was nearly perfect (the caveat being it was Easter weekend so not typical flow of things like alcohol/when locals were partying). The tour guides were all great and punctual….I’m really so glad I had Ravyn to help coordinate and book literally everything, helping with research and sharing recommendations. She was so patient and supportive, and I’m pretty sure I would have cancelled my trip if not for having her. Everything turned out really well.”
